Would you like to make a difference for abused and neglected Minnesota children this year? You can!
It is amazing the difference that one person can make!
Safe Passage Advocates are the primary reason we have successfully promoted legislative reforms, increased funding for child protection, and improved policies and practices in child protection and foster care.
Sign up today to join us for this year's Safe Passage Advocates Day at the Capitol on Wednesday March 4th*, a fun and very important day where we visit the Minnesota Capitol and speak up to help improve the lives of vulnerable Minnesota children.
First time at the Capitol? That's ok! We are excited to help get you the tools and training you need for a successful visit!
To prepare for our Advocacy Day, we teach and train YOU, our Volunteer Child Advocates, about the crucial issues which are most important right now to help abused and neglected Minnesota children with training sessions offered once you register. Info is emailed to you.
Appointments with your state legislators on Advocacy Day are geared to fit your schedule needs, and are scheduled during our either our Morning or Afternoon “sessions.” We ask that you plan to be available and attend your Session’s “Legislative Update” as well as the legislative appointment(s) that we schedule for you. Please indicate your preferred scheduling (Morning or Afternoon Session) when you register for Advocacy Day.
Then, on Advocacy Day, our Volunteer Child Advocates come to the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul and meet with their State Senator or Representative to share their story and educate their elected official about the crucial issues for abused, neglected, and vulnerable Minnesota children right now. We attend meetings with your legislators in pairs or small teams, network with other Child Advocates and Safe Passage Volunteers, make new friends, and, most importantly, work to educate our legislators about the crucial challenges facing Minnesota's most vulnerable children. Our elected officials love to hear from and learn from their constituents, and they are excited to meet you and hear what you have to share!
It is an exciting day and we hope you can join us!
*Can't make in on March 4th but you would still like to advocate at the Capitol with Safe Passage? Just send an email to [email protected] and she will help you schedule alternative appointments to meet with your state legislators.

Please note: below is how we structure the day.
A reminder that you do not need to be present for the full day.

Please indicate your scheduling preferences to us when you register. Thank you! :)
Schedule For The Day:
Last year Minnesota children were safer and received more services due in large part to the loyal donors and passionate volunteers of Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota. 13,600 more children annually are getting help from county child protection agencies due to changes our passionate volunteers helped make in state law.
In addition, counties and the state increased their budgets for child protection and foster care by over $200 million since 2015. Counties also added nearly 500 caseworkers – a 60% increase. But many challenges remain for vulnerable, neglected, and abused children in Minnesota, this year and into the future, and you are their voice at the Capitol!
Our mission is to ensure that Minnesota has a child welfare system in which children are safe and reach their full potential.
Our goal is a Minnesota child protection and foster care system in that continuously improves the lives of children, as demonstrated by objective, measurable outcomes. If the system is working well, children’s outcomes will improve over time.
